No pitcher had ever started a postseason opener with only one previous career start until the seemingly unfazed Moore took the mound at Rangers Ballpark less than 22 hours after being told he was pitching in the playoffs less than three months after pitching in the Futures game during the All-Star break.
Why Matt Moore’s total mastery of the dangerous Texas Rangers lineup was so impressive. (via sarah-fincher)

bluechamber:

So after the Moore/Shoppach show yesterday we have “Complete Game” James coming up tonight. I read all the Rangers fans so confident for a turn around. I would be a bit hesitant about that. Shields this season made them a victim of one his eleven complete games. He’s 2 and 0 against them. He has a .059 era against them this season, only giving up one run, eight hits and three walks and thirteen strikeouts of seventeen innings! Sounds like Texas has their work cut out for them.
Derek Holland is 1 and 0 with a 5.85 era against the Rays this season, giving up three homeruns, three walks, eleven hits and nine runs. This doesn’t sound too good for him but he does have sixteen strike outs against us. I have a good feeling though we will strike hard again. This momentum we come in with makes it hard not to have faith. They have that too, you can see it in Maddon and in the dugout that these guys are hungry and want payback.
